Jerry Huelle

Jerry Huelle, "The Swine Man", was born near Ocean Lake in Fremont County.
Jerry married Cindy in 1971, and together they raised five children, four boys and one girl. Their children
were actively involved in the Fremont County 4-H and FFA programs during their youth, showing
swine and horses.
In his youth, Jerry was in FFA showing swine and steers at the Fremont County Fair beginning in 1962. There was an old A framed hut that he kept his show hog in at the Fremont County Fairgrounds and he slept in the steer barn. He quit showing in 1966, the year he graduated, but he stayed involved annually with the Fremont County Fair until 2009. Jerry eagerly took ten days to two weeks from his business every year to lend a hand at the Fremont County Fair. Jerry did many things to help out including, being Swine Superintendent, babysitting kids and dogs, judging pigs, and being a barn manager. He also cooked breakfast every morning of the fair for the 4-H and FFA fair participants for over 25 years.
Without hesitation, he says, "It's been worth every minute!"
Jerry has seen a lot of changes at the fair, "Going from the single pig hut then, to the pig palace now is quite an accomplishment." He remembers the year when there were 343 market hogs shown at the fair and the hogs were placed in one old hog barn and in a few old wooden pens. Each year the swine show grew and needed to expand to make room for all the hogs, as a result they converted the dairy barn into a "pig palace" and put in new hog pens for the benefit of many youth swine exhibitors in Fremont County.
Through Jerry's leadership he contacted Shawn Steffen with Stallion Oil Field Service. Jerry asked Shawn for help with new hog pens to expand the swine barn. Stallion Oil Field Service came up with over $30,000 in swine barn improvements in two years.
Jerry has always had a love for agriculture and animals. He was a partner in farming with his dad for many years.
Jerry Huelle can be proud of his agricultural roots and accomplishments including: being a chaperone for Fremont County 4-H youth at the Wyoming State Fair for 14 years; being recognized by the National Pork Board as a Pork All American; Outstanding Wyoming Young Farmer; Wind River School
Board Member; he helped start the Fremont County Pork Producers and the Wyoming State Pork Producers. He was an active member of the Fremont County Hay Producers, Wyoming Hay Producers, Wyoming FFA Alumni, County Fair Marshall, and Wyoming State Winter Fair Board member.
Over the years, Jerry has seen many youth exhibitors and young adults come and go at the Fremont County Fair; some of them are first and second generation and now the third generation has arrived. Jerry says he could probably black mail half of the Fremont County parents and retire a rich man! There are stories to tell!
The thing that has kept Jerry so involved with the Fremont County Fair for 43 years is his love and support for the youth programs. His famous saying is, "The kids today are our future tomorrow." All of his efforts to benefit the future of Fremont County have "been worth every minute!"
The Fremont County Fair Board takes great pride in recognizing Jerry Huelle for his dedication, leadership, and support of the Fremont County Fair by dedicating the 2011 Fremont County Fair to him. Please join us in saying "Thank You" and congratulating Jerry for his support and years of dedicated service!

Cerella Overgard

Cerella OvergardCerella Overgard has been a staunch supporter of the Fremont County Fair and the 4-H youth program as evidenced by her 46 years as a 4-H club leader and 25 years as the Superintendent of the Poultry Show at the fair.
The first year that Cerella served as a Superintendent there were a total of 36 birds in 4-H and Open
class combined. She said that was not fair to the 4-H poultry members. So she checked out a poultry book from the state library in Cheyenne and went to work to improve the classes and highlight the various breeds.
The following year there were about 150 birds shown and the poultry show has been a success ever since. With poultry and pigeon numbers reaching nearly 350 some years, Cerella has determinedly tried to improve the shows for open and youth exhibitors.
Cerella also spent more than 17 years with the Wind River School District driving school bus. She and her husband Ed guided three children and one grandchild through the Fremont County 4-H Program, with each child completing ten years of 4-H membership. Cerella is an active member of Fremont Homemakers, Pavillion Grange, Wyoming State Grange, and the Wind River V.F.W Auxiliary. When she signed up for Master Gardening, the 4-H Extension Office commented that the Master Gardener was taking the Master Gardener Class. Cerella has been involved in the Master Crochet work as well. She has no idle time!
It has been a continual joke at her home that Cerella does not know the word, no. When there is someone that needs help she tries to lend a hand to help. The youth of Fremont County have benefited from her support and guidance for over 45 years. The Fremont County Fair is a stronger event due to her support and involvement.
Cerella was recently awarded the 2011 Wyoming Jefferson Award in recognition of her outstanding public service. The Jefferson Award's mission states "One person can make a difference, and we all have the responsibility to try to make our community a better place to live." Cerella has unquestionably done that for Fremont County.
The Fremont County Fair Board takes great pride in recognizing Cerella Overgard for her dedication, leadership, and support of the Fremont County Fair by dedicating the 2011 Fremont County Fair to her. Please join us in saying "Thank You" and congratulating Cerella for her support and
years of dedicated service!
